Get one of those little rubbery tubes for peeling garlic! They're great. I want one of those, quite badly.

I have never heard of such a thing.

It sounds fantastic.

By chance would you know the name of this wonderful sounding device?

PS. Love the icon, it's super cute.

They call it a "garlic peeler". ;)

PS Thanks, it's one of my Fimo creatures.

I love kitchen appliances :) One bit of advice is to buy them slowly so you have a chance to fully play with one before you get the next. I think they were all bought new (most were gifts ( ... )

I always wondered if the immersion blender was a good buy. I have been meaning to check one out.

I will definately have a look at some today.

Except for using it to make smoothies, I rarely use my blender; I prefer my immersion blender and food processor. I love using a garlic press to avoid stinky hands. If you regularly make muffins, I'd recommend a silicone muffin pan. And parchment paper to line cookie sheets.

The rule of thumb with cutlery is "less is more-" it is better to have only a few knives that are of excellent quality than an entire set that is cheap and shoddy. You only need three types of knives, as long as they are of good quality: a chef's knife, a paring knife, and a bread knife.

I can't agree more.

I quality Chef Knife (or, in my case, I got a Japanese Vegetable knife, since that is mostly what I use it for) will set you back around $100, but it is pretty much the only tool in my kitchen that I couldn't live without.

Just make sure that you also get a wet stone and that you learn how to use it. Nothing sucks more than a dull knife.

Silicone spatular for stiring, not the flip spatula - Best thing ever. It doesn't keep smells on it. I can use it on the nonstick pots and pans, It's sturdy for mixing cookies yet soft enough for getting out the last of the the veganase ( ... )

Why thank you.

:D

I love salads too.

Can you keep the items in the spinner for storage in the fridge?

yes. It keeps much longer in the fridge in the spinner. Another great thing is filling it with cold water if your lettuce goes limp. let it sit about 10-30 min, drain it and you've got great crunchy lettuce again.

really? wow, that's so good to know! i may have to get one and make a salad of veggies and add my crunchy stuff per portion (so it doesn't get soggy).

Hmm, I wondered if those are nice. I am actually in the market for new spoons and cups, because I think having two sets would be nice for when I am making something with both wet and dry ingredients.
