something lovely

the other morning we had a Northern Flicker hanging out in our backyard. it was one of the most beautiful things i had seen in a long time. i wish i was clever like the rest of you and you could just click on "northern flicker" above and it would take you to a picture of one. now you'll just have to google it. i'm sure the google images won't ( Read more... )

Ask and ye shall receive!!

I'm so impressed that you're getting to know the birds of Oregon. I love birds and realized on our trip that LA doesn't have very many, and those we do have aren't very exciting (except the hummingbirds). But that was one of the complaints Robert (son of safari leader) had about England, too: boring birds.

The Northern Flicker looks lovely. From the picks I found on google, it seems the distinctive marking is the red underneath, so I hope I did right in getting a pic of that.
