I'm posting my answers to  the following questions given to me by Laliandra.
1. Well if you feel you haven't already said this I'd love to know what you would change about Harry Potter?
2. What was the first piece of fanfiction you wrote?
3. Do you do any other sorts of writing.
4. And, because I thought this was a lovely question that really got me ( Read more... )

It's fine that you took a little while. Better to think about things properly!

Oh I agree about the Cruciatus. It just really jarred with the rest of the book. And Professor McGonagall's reaction? Totally out of character, I think anyway. The thing that really got me about a lot of the dubious actions of some of the characters was the complete lack of any questioning by anyone else. When Hermione left Marietta cursed I could see how that was in character for her, but I was reading thinking "Ronald Weasley, I know you were brought up better than this. Say something!" There are a number of times where I just thought someone should at least not totally let the person get away with it.

I'd love to see some fanfic where some of this gets explored. It's a children's book in the end, and is written as such, and so having Harry curse someone like that seems wrong. And saying that it was all the influence of Voldemort-horcrux is such a cop out.

Your answers were really interesting, thanks!

Yeah, McGonagall's reaction was almost worse than the original act. I was going to add that I spent a lot of time wondering why no one ever questions Hermione's actions. No one investigates who cursed Marietta. I didn't think of Ron specifically but you are right he could have said something and was brought up well. I think Wizards are very impressed by power and have a hard time getting over their admiration for a good spell and never look at how its used. At least that is the only thought I could come up with.
