Now I have joint compound all over (including my butt, look, I buttered a wall seam and then leaned into it, okay?), but the closet is drywalled and mudded, with great enthusiastic incompetence, up to eye level. Above that will require pulling a couple of clips and relocating phone cables, so I desisted for now ( Read more... )

I should say, previously the wall was covered with uneven boards from hip-height up to eye level, of which I kept only two horizontal struts useful for hanging things like shelves off of. From hip-height to the baseboard, it was unwalled at all -- loose electrical cables and everything. So it seemed like a needful thing to do!

Probably if I'd been smart I would have just caulked some of the seams instead of taping and mudding them. I did not think of that till halfway through the process, however.
