High Speed!

I have been playing with the Canon camera hack CHKD to get some high speed pictures and in the tests so far its working pretty great!

I went with the obligatory water drip subject to see what I can get. Im pretty impressed with how sharp they are coming out and they could be better once I get my focal length figured out better.

Thanks! I had some fun with it. Im really impressed that its just my little Canon SD1000. I think the shutter speed was 1/20000s and can go up to 1/80000s but it just didnt work with the light I had. The flash is a bit hard to manage (I had to go with a black pan rather than a clear glass in my white sink to get much)

Next I want to figure out time laps, and HDR.

Thanks! The hack is really rather easy to do, definitely bumps up the usefulness of the camera.

holycrap :o

ok so I've downloaded and tried the allbest chdk build... I'll definitely have to fiddle with it a bit more... not sure where the HDR settings are, unless it was script.. man, gotta look into this more! And I have the S5IS

just reading through the guy's forum... so hdr is a post-photo script effectively done in photoshop. chdk allowed him to take non-standard photos, typically bracketed, so he could merge them afterwards and create the hdr... at least that's how I'm understanding it. that's fine, I can do that :) heh

But definitely, the ability to go to the mechanical extremes for the photo settings opens up a world of creativity... thanks for posting this!

nuts, my Canon isn't on the supported list. I've been thinking about getting a new one, too...

Thats too bad. I think that any future camera purchases will have "hackable" as a requirement now!
