Oh wow. That's beautiful- taking us from the start of his assignment to the bit before the end of it, and making us anticipate what's going to happen. You make Ray so ocnflicted, and not in a whiney angsty way- you convey so damn well how he can't afford to remember what he used to have, and the memories are beautiful, especially this one

His niece Carmella, one day old. Her wide, clear eyes are the deep gray-blue of a storm at sea. She seems somehow centuries old, like maybe she knows everything there is to know and is just waiting for someone to ask the right question. Ray rocks her, and she sleeps. He thinks he might like to have kids someday.

And RayV and Fraser kissed? And then he left? Aww, *snuggles them both*

Lovely, really poetic, with this blurred line between Langoustine and RayV that works brilliantly

Vecchio freaked, pretty much.

And then he ended up marrying Stella, wtf?

I'm glad you liked it! It was an angstfest to write, but I had fun. :)

This is lovely. It's the perfect explanation for that conversation in BDtH, really deep down believable.

Thanks! I was thinking about that conversation, somewhere along the line. I was also trying to stay awake to finish the thing. :) But yeah, I definitely had that in mind.

*fixes typo* Thanks for pointing that out!

Oh, and btw. I could clean up that comment fic that we did and maybe it could actually be posted somewhere. I may have mentioned it before, but ADHD eats my brain sometimes.

::peels off the armour and hugs Ray so tight::

That was SO wonderful! And this line in particular really hit my heart hard:

He began to think of Chicago as someone else's life. He hoped the guy who was living it was doing a good job.

Oh, poor Ray, he tried so hard after meeting Fraser and then had to hand it over to some stranger... ::cuddles Ray some more::

I love him so much. *cuddles also* Thanks, dear. :)

Oh, oh, oh. This was beautiful and really sad. I love how Ray tries to set himself aside to do the job, and the memory storm, and how you end it right before we know where it picks up, which gives it a kind of anticipation at the end. Very nice.

Thanks! :) Fortunately, Ray does get his own happy ending. Not with Fraser, but happy for him anyway.
