DUDE. If you like 1984, you NEED to read The Handmaid's Tale. Those two rank right up there as some of my favorite books EVER. The Handmaid's Tale has a definite feminist bent to it (it IS Margaret Atwood we're talking about here), but it's a great piece of dystopian literature.

Also, A Tale of Two Cities was the only book I was ever assigned to read in school that I just could. not. finish.

I'll add it to my reading list, then. Thanks for the suggestion.

For shame, man. For shame. I think the biggest travesty is that you relegate Gabriel Garcia Marquez's work to "chick flicks."

I think it's more Hollywood's fault than anything, but I'm willing to be proven wrong by reading them later. The pile of books by my bed is a bit too large to accommodate any new additions right now, but I'm going to use this list to help round out my reading.

I want to retake the survey now with your fancy underlining, darn.

Am I the only English major ever that hates Shakespeare? Blah!

I just used some extended HTML tags to make it easier to read. Made an ordered list (numbered list) with
    and
. Each item is preceded by
  • . Underlining is just and .

I wrote a whole entry about extended HTML tags and stuff that's not commonly known a while back. I actually have it bookmarked, too, so that I'll always be able to find stuff like that.

My only suggestions would be enders game, if you haven't already and the series of vladimir taltos stories by steven brust. oh and fight club, and anything written by chuck.

I think I've read every book in the Ender and Bean series, unless a new one has come out recently. The Ender books got kind of preachy there towards the end, Children of the Mind especially. I like the Bean books better, because they stick more to what made Ender's Game so great.

And somehow, I've still missed reading Fight Club.
