Christmas and etc.

As always, I don't spend much time near the computer on Christmas. I get up, walk away, and spend time with the family ( Read more... )

Also, Anytime one plays or even listens to "Feel the Pain," Someone in New York gets hit by a golf ball.

With as much as I've been singing it in my head, the whole city must be wearing hard hats by now.

First off, any time I hear "went down to Charlotte", I hear Brick playing in my head.

Second, Foreplay is a hard mother-frackin' song on Rock Band. Seriously, that song kicked our asses when we were getting 95% on everything we were playing.

Lastly, that Print Works Bistro looks like an amazing place to eat. I love the atmosphere it seems to have. But, I tend to love any place that calls itself a "bistro". Makes me think of nice, corned beef, home-made sammiches.

This has fancier stuff than home-made sandwiches, but it's actually a pretty neat place. I had steak frites (very well-prepared) with a lemon tart for dessert. And I further cemented my theory that I'm not meant to like alcohol by tasting what was supposed to be excellent port; all I tasted was cough medicine with a hint of raisins.
The bathroom there is really cool, too. It's actually in The Proximity Hotel (which leads to a lengthy series of inside jokes), and has a combination of 30s/40s tile and fixtures with super-duper modern urinals that led me to comment "I gotta pee in that" when Ryan described them to me.

And now that I've ordered (just seconds ago!) Rock Band 2 for the Wii, I am going to become a master of guitar shredding and face melting.

I love any place that has old black/white tiles. Especially when it's accented with cherry oak all over the place... makes you think of a mob movie from the 30's.

I read through their menu, and I must eat there for brunch sometime.

The only cure for that is to come visit North Carolina some time.

so, since i'm the 'weird one' I'm usually the one who gets gag gifts. I remember the best one to date: I was given what appeared to be a normal present, unwrap and inside there is a shoebox, inside the shoe box there is a wooden box that is screwed closed from every side, they hand me a screwdriver and say "have fun" so... I set about unscrewing... and after forever (they used hella long screws) I got one side unscrewed, only to find that they had glued it shut, so THEN the task was to figure out which side wasn't glued in addition to being screwed. they eventually got nice and gave me a small power drill, and once I opened it up, I discovered that it was filled with wooden blocks and an empty carton of cigarettes. I was like "what?" then somoene was like "uncrumple the pack of smokes" and inside that there was some money. So, yeah... that's MY gag gift story.

Wow. That's a LOT of effort for one gag gift.
