...but maybe I will try posting a bit more this year. I could hardly post lessWhat I am watching: Musketeers is back! Huzzah! I admit that I'm sure I can only enjoy this show because my memory of the actual novel is so vague as to be non-existent, so the fact that the characters here have almost no relationship to the originals doesn't bother me ( Read more... )

Oh, this is so funny. I have to paste in an actual conversation I had with my friend about this on Friday.

me:
I don't know why I'm wasting my time watching this terrible show Musketeers :)
It has as much to do with my beloved Three Musketeers as, oh, Two and A Half Men
based on the characters from Alexandre Dumas' novel = the same names

Friend:
Oh dear. Yeah, maybe one to drop

me:
pretty boys
pretty boys with swords
so if I just divorce myself from knowledge of the book... like: "This has nothing to do with my favorite book"
"It's just a bunch of swashbuckling hotties"

Friend:
Maybe turn the sound off?

me:
No shirts have come off yet in this episode
disappoint

Friend:
Alas, not every episode is perfect

Just rename everyone in your head -- that isn't Aramis, it's some guy called Jack. Then you can enjoy the hotness and the ridiculous plots without confusion.

This does not work for me with Atlantis, but it did with Hercules and Xena, at least a lot of the time.

Yes! I can't wait to watch the adventures of the three swashbuckling friends - Fred, Alan, and Roger - who work for some sort of earl or duke, along with their new pal, Charlie. I hope they manage to figure out that Cardinal Doctor Who is a villain! I'm totally shipping Charlie and this lady who may be a villain, but they're just super hot together. :)
