Last night's Primeval

...and the scenes from next week, to which my reaction can be summed up with "OMG, have they gone completely mad?" (The answer being, obviously, yes: someone sat down in the writer's room and said, "Hey, this is a show about time travel. We have no limits!") And this is already a show which will make you turn to your watching-partner and say, in ( Read more... )

Though my reasons for watching weren't exactly the same as yours, I cannot help but agree with this analysis. Except that Sarah hasn't got any character either, and I still don't like Connor.

Meh!

Alas, it sounds like you may have no more reason to watch the show. I hate it when that happens!

My fondness for Lester really knows no bounds, though.

Lester and Abby are my only reasons for watching.

I really wish I liked Abby more than I do -- for some reason I didn't warm to her at the start, and I wish she'd get more storylines focused on her (that aren't "Oh, no, Rex is missing! Again!") so that I can get to like her more.

When Former Cop broke into the ARC he used this line to Jenny: "I couldn't tell if you were giving me an order or flirting. It's so hard to tell with women these days." And then he took over in a manly fashion. So, um. not so appealing to me ( ... )

Perhaps Former Cop will be eaten by a raptor soon. We can hope, right? And then Helen will realize that she really wanted an army of Nick and Stephen clones (and I know they have very limited intelligence, but would you really be able to tell with Stephen?)

I completely agree about the stupidity of pretty much everyone on the show, even Helen (her cunning plans usually leave me scratching my head a little). It's just... endearing. Like little rabbits that won't get out of the road when there are cars coming.

I have always liked the way Helen obviously uses her secret knowledge of anomalies to go back and forth in time to pick up eyeliner and facewash at Boots and keep her underwear in fashion.

Hee! And get good hair cuts! That woman has the best hair of any woman who fights dinosaurs/bat creatures from the future. Plus I love that she has also mastered the art of carefully ripping her clothes with her knife so that they show her to maximum effect. I wonder if there are classes in that in the future? In a world over run by bat creatures, you would totally be able to use that skill. As for her scheming I still have to work out what her plan with Leek was. Or if there was a plan beyond a desire to mess with Nick and Stephen. (I totally agree with you on Stephen's dimness. It is one of his most endearing qualities.) Either way I don't really have a problem.

Their glorious lack of intelligence delights me every episode. Normally I just wait in anticipation of what horrific mistake they are going to make. They never, ever disappoint.

Yes, Helen obviously has found a good stylist and travels in time as necessary to make her hair appointments. I think this is perfectly reasonable, as I used to travel 3000 miles to get a haircut, and am now again in a situation where I don't have a stylist on the same continent that I live on.

There was a plan to do with Leek? I had no idea. Actually, I don't spend much time trying to figure that kind of thing out -- it seems best to sit aback and let the madness wash over you.

I think this show is far better watched in company. Which gives me little reason to ahem it, I have to admit.

I am somewhat astonished that they killed off Cutter. I mean, I won't miss the Terrible Jackets, but he was purportedly the lead, wasn't he? Still, that does give Abby and Connor more room to develop.

Such a silly show.

I think the actor wanted out -- British actors don't like to do too many series of TV, for some reason, unless it's on an American show. It seems to be a cultural thing.

It is possible that the show is much better in company, when you can laugh at the amazing stupidity of it. Or with liquor, maybe?

I wrote a comment but the pc ate it. So basically everything everyone said up there I mostly agree with.

I hate it when that happens! (The computer eating comments -- not people agreeing with me)
