What, no Ving Rhames??

...Really, all this reminds me of is that stupid history book I worked on a year ago, that had citations to Ammianus Marcellinus, that were in the smallest font in the history of the universe. I did not even know who Ammianus Marcellinus was, except that I wanted to beat him with a stick.

I have a secret fondness for the consul of 51, either because of or despite the fact that he was clearly a huge asshole -- I couldn't find it today, but I'm sure that somewhere Cicero says something about his death like, "what would you expect? he was such a jerk!"

I rather like the bits I've read of Ammianus Marcellinus, which dealt with those Germanic/Celtic peoples and their habits. I can see how a tiny font would've induced bias, though!

I like the bits of Ammianus I've read as well -- he's outside my proper period, but he's full of neat stuff. I have a colleague who works on him. He has stuff on the Huns, too!
