I wrote this for eid_fic, a community set up to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, which occurs this weekend, by writing stories about Muslim characters. I am 100% behind the notion that writing is often the best response to a sense of exclusion in fandom, and the challenge gave me the opportunity to write about a character I've wanted to play with for a while. Thank you! I think there's very little Dunnett fanfic, because the mere thought is so daunting to a writer!

Stunning piece of work, thanks - it's beautifully and sharply written. Marthe is an incredibly tragic figure, and I'm not without anger that both Francis and Jerrott get to live their lot in life [although poor Jerrott's is quite tragic in its own way] and she doesn't have that shot at something different that they both get. She deserves more fiction about her, and this was really great to read.
