I love a good crossover, and this definitely fits the bill. These are not 2 I would have thought to mix up together, but it works quite well and is all the better for the unexpectedness.
I have to admit I've been imagining this crossover since the first mention of Zoroastrian demons in "Shadow." Well, as soon as I stopped rolling my eyes.
This was - I can't even articulate. I don't read a lot of cross-overs because it seems that the writer is usually very well versed with one series and not necessarily the other. Or, they just don't seem to mesh, because it has to be believable to me. This was believable, it meshed and you certainly are strong in both series. Just great. The voice of John was perfect, his worry over the boys, especially after "Shadow", just spot on. And Duncan? I have not read much of Highlander stuff, but this instantly brought me right back to why I loved that show. Beautifully written, it flows effortlessly. I have to admit, I loved it when John shot Duncan, because, he would not want to leave something alive that should be dead. Even if only intermittently dead. Just great. Do you mind if I freind? Oh and Thursday night posting was a bit chancey but it worked for me!!
I'm so pleased that the crossover worked for you! HL has never been my primary fandom, but I love reading the fiction, and I love the characters and universe.
I really loved the moment when John shot Duncan as well, I admit; I didn't see it coming, but it was perfectly in character for him.
Thank you so much for commenting -- I never object to being friended, of course.
This was a fantastic cross-over. I was never a huge HL fan but enjoyed and saw enough eps to know that you did a wonderful job with MacLeod's character and your John was terrific too. Loved the thought processes, the palpable excitement and adrenalin in knowing he can now eliminate some lightning related incidents from his list of demon criteria.
I'm amazed and impressed by your imagination here, that you were able to meld these 2 worlds together so very well. Bravo!
P.S. I'm having a helluva hard time typing "Duncan MacLeod" because I work with a "Duncaun McLeod" who happens to chair the local Highland Games and Festival in my neck of the woods. Who'd have thunk that "Duncan" *without* 2 U's would look odd to me now?
I see crossovers really easily -- it's just a thing for me -- and find them easy to write. But I'm always glad to learn that they work for other other people, too! And Duncan and John just seemed to... work well together. Well, to the limited extent that John ever works well with other people!
Excellent crossover! I like how you fit it so neatly into canon continuity, and the way John and MacLeod warily cirle each other, not quite trusting yet not quite hostile either. It felt very true for their characters.
