Paper Weight by Vanzetti Rated: PG Category: Gen Characters: Kathleen Hudak, Victor Henriksen, Cassie Robinson, others Summary: Kathleen Hudak is a survivor, even when she isn't sure of anything else. ( author's notes )
wonders how much of her own doubt she's put onto Dean Winchester
Oh, I like this a lot. I love that you don't have her convinced, not at all. She's just trying to figure it out. Sensible, not too trusting, but believing her own eyes and seeing logical inconsistencies. Why, indeed, do the Winchesters keep revisiting their victims?
I hope this comes across as a compliment: This is a story I would have been proud to have written myself. *g*
I have this whole thing worked out about Kathleen's first interaction with Dean -- after all, there's nothing supernatural about the Benders -- and what she goes into the story knowing. She doesn't know that the Winchesters are any better than the Benders, really, but she's smart, and she wants to know.
Madison's death was really awful, and would look even worse from Kathleen's perspective -- or any law enforcement, really. And there's no way Sam and Dean really cleaned the place up. There was a werewolf in the closet -- that's not the kind of thing you can hide!
Awesome! Kathleen is my all-time favorite SPN guest star, and I you did such a great job portraying her here. I love that doesn't have any sort of total conversion, that she's skeptical and questioning and extremely uncomfortable with the evidence she sees. Her interactions with Cassie are terrific too. I like how Cassie and Henricksen are set up, representing the two polarized positions that Kathleen is stuck between. Well done!
I know that a lot of people really liked Kathleen -- I did too! -- and that made her a little scary to write. I'm glad she worked for you, in this story.
Her interactions with Cassie are terrific too. I like how Cassie and Henricksen are set up, representing the two polarized positions that Kathleen is stuck between.
Thank you! I guess she ends up more persuaded by Cassie, but then Cassie has the evidence on her side. But you know, Cassie would get the evidence -- she struck me as that kind of person.

And that Kathleen still keeps her mind open and listens to people, even when Henricksen has shut his.
