It seems to be confirmed now that the LJ servers have been moved to Russia. I am staying on LJ, even making an effort to post more here. Regarding #5, if you have the exact same keywords across platforms (i.e. my default icon keyword is "ALi - blows you a kiss") it will pick the icon on LJ when you crosspost. (Unless that's changed since I used to heavily crosspost back in the day. It's been a while!)

I thought it worked like this, but then I posted my Snowflake Challenge with its icon, and it did not come through. I did several test posts, and it did not work. :(

I just did a private test post with this icon and it posted just fine to LJ and IJ. I didn't see it on the known issues list so you might want to open a support ticket with DW. I'm sorry it's not working for you! :(

Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely getting on this later.

OOo, thanks for the tips! I, too, plan on continuing to use LJ as my primary platform, but I'll be doing regular backups to dreamwidth to make sure content is saved, just in case... :/

Thanks for the tips. Esp number 4. I had noticed the icon thing you pointed out as well, but I'll have to see if I can do what sdkshelly is suggesting.

I plan on remaining active on LJ and crossposting as much as I can, unless I forget. Which is known to happen b/c alcohol.

I already xpost everything from DW, so I guess I'm in the habit.
And I love how easy it is to link to other sites. :)
I didn't know about the cut text thing, I just use the LJ format and it works, but good to know.

I was coming here to say the same about #3. I always use the standard lj-cut as well as lj user and never have any trouble with it.
