I hate spammers. And I wish there was an easy LJ function to just have them blocked from posting anything on Livejournal.

ETA: You can report a bot here. I already did. It's easy and if loads of people do it, hopefully LJ powers react fast

I share your hate, and have just reported a handful that had been in comms I frequent- always the same few names, always Russian Entries, in any of my comms... no way there's any connection to Tolkien fandom... ;o) It indeed helps most if as many people as possible report them, and it's even easier than that; let your mouse just hover over their LJ name icon until the context menu opens, and you can not only report them as a bot without having to copy the username, but also ban them from your journal and communities.

ETA: I'm just doing a second reporting round from my one mod account to hopefully speed things up. SPAM still coming in. *sigh*

Great that so many more people are reporting the bots. The hovering things does not work for me, alas (may be my odd combination of my own skin with new LJ layout).

Small Hobbit and myself have just got rid of two spam posts over at sherlock60, and one of the comms I'm watching has two of the same posts. It's annoying and unpleasant ^^" I've changed sherlock60 over to moderated membership for the time being.

I saw that the spam at sherlock60 quickly disappeared. :) Yay for alert mods! :)

I am guessing, they find it cool to see their bots spam a social network like LJ. Or it's the Russian secret service trying AGAIN to make life for LJ-based dissidents hell. WHO KNOWS?? *still seethes*

God, I haven't heard about spam comments. That's awful. I hope those stopped now, as well.
