I frequently carry books with me just in case I get stuck places so my bookmark is whatever I can pull out of my purse......most often a receipt or a gum wrapper.

Whatever's handy: stray envelopes, torn off pieces of paper, cats. Right now I have a boarding pass in one book and a vehicle inspection report (wtf??) in the other.

I used to use ribbons, but they look too much like toys for certain members of my household to leave alone.
