"...that's either the worst or most appropriate lame-o pun I've ever heard."
Sure, where he came from they did about as much cheer leading as they did fear mongering and cold, heartless pranks (which he did give 'em props for, he admired dedication), but...fearleaders? Talk about truth in advertising. Maybe Heather was one of 'em, it'd definitely explain a lot.
"And I didn't, I was just goin' by that frilly outfit you got on."
...and the fact that she was so cheerful and bubbly it made him want to start breaking things, but even Duncan could keep some thoughts to himself.
"Seein' as how you're dripping wet, either you're new, or you've been living under a rock since I got here and just decided to go for a swim in the fountain ( ... )

"Yeah. I don't usually handle the register though, old man Kings has that covered. I'm just a backroom guy- put 'em together, fix 'em, whatever. Though occasionally I'm stuck givin' the riding lessons the place holds every Saturday."
It wasn't one of his favorite activities, and the occasional resident probably hated his lessons just as much as Duncan did (though for a much different reason). Fortunately for everyone though, he didn't have to take over very often, and even when he did he at least tried to make sure everyone could ride by the time he was through. Mostly because it beat draggin' them off to the nearest doctor.

"Ooooooh! You even give lessons? I'll definitely be there, sounds like it could be a lot of fun." She hummed in reply, offering a wide smile as she watched him with hopeful eyes. Yes, she was making friends already. At least she was in her mind.
