Oh what fresh hell was this.

Duncan was going to have to make a mental note to avoid the center of town like the plague, nay, Chef's cooking around this time of the month. So many new people in such a short amount of time? It had to be a trend. And Duncan was pretty good at pattern recognition. Heck, if he could learn to memorize the patrol times the cops used, he could figure out arrivals. Same basic principle, except it didn't run the risk of another arrest if he got it wrong.

Of course, this squealing black and pink nightmare definitely felt like punishment enough.

"Yo Pinky, shut it," Duncan groaned, glaring at the new arrival as if hoping that if he tried hard enough, she might die. "Bein stuck in this dump's bad enough, the last thing I need is some gothy cheerleader givin' me a stupid headache."

Oh Duncan, if only you knew that she was already dead! Her boots hit the ground again as he'd spoken to her, wide eyes blinking as she was taken aback for just a moment. She wasn't sure what to say at first, surveying him carefully for not more than a second before she offered a smile and stretched her arms back to rest at the small of her back. He did look a bit like monsters that she'd seen back home, so it was a comfort of sorts.

"We call it fearleading where I'm from, but how did you know I was on the squad?" Ever so curious as to how he'd come to the conclusion, maybe he was one of those monsters that could read minds! There's no way he was just a normie, she just knew it.

Hey, the only thing monstrous about Duncan was his behavior. And manners. And idea of a good time. Okay, so he IS a monster, in his own evil little way. He just raises a brow at just how casually the perky new arrival was taking his temper, and he was definitely confused by the whole 'fearleading' ...thing.

"...that's either the worst or most appropriate lame-o pun I've ever heard."

Sure, where he came from they did about as much cheer leading as they did fear mongering and cold, heartless pranks (which he did give 'em props for, he admired dedication), but...fearleaders? Talk about truth in advertising. Maybe Heather was one of 'em, it'd definitely explain a lot.

"And I didn't, I was just goin' by that frilly outfit you got on."

...and the fact that she was so cheerful and bubbly it made him want to start breaking things, but even Duncan could keep some thoughts to himself.

"Seein' as how you're dripping wet, either you're new, or you've been living under a rock since I got here and just decided to go for a swim in the fountain ( ... )

Another few blinks from the girl as she looked down at her clothes, frowning some.

"This old thing? These are my normal clothes, they don't look anything like my fearleading uniform!" She replied with a slight shake of her head, frown vanishing almost as soon as it had come. There was, however, a curious tilt of her head as the rest of his words finally sunk in.

"...you're not a monster, are you?" She did sound just the least bit disappointed, but not too much so. It really would have been nice to have someone from back home, she knew well enough that this was very far away from where she was accustomed to being.

[It's cool, they can be soaked together! WATER BUDDIES. Or something. She blinked for a moment though, if she could still blush she would be doing that, so it's safe to say that she looked a little flustered before offering a nervous smile.]

I, ah...

Quite the charmer, aren't you?

[She knew guys like this from school, this could be a good or a bad thing, best to just let it play out.]

[Just a titter of nervous laughter as she shook her head some, arms crossing over her chest.]

And how many girls have you used that one on?

Kanaya has just finished adjusting some things in the boutique and greeting the local coming into watch the store. So now she only has the covering bags for few outfits and their hangers in hand.

It's a little bit of a surprise to see someone still wet walking on a street a few blocks from the coral, especially along this street, but she crosses over to great the apparently-human girl.

"Is there any chance that you are new to the city?"

She really did just seem ever so excited as she walked along, taking in the sights with much amusement and awe. The girl stopped dead in her tracks when the other approached, looking over those things in her hands with great curiosity.

"Very new! I suppose you could say, I've just dropped in? Made quite a splash too!" She said rather excitedly, thinking her answer very clever as she let a wide smile pass over her lips.

Jim has been going around town, collecting the last few things he needs for putting his solar surfer together. He sure hopes this will work. He hadn't been able to put his hands on all the parts he normally used, so some substituting had been in order. Still, he's a clever kid. He managed. And hey, if you are stuck in an underwater city, you might as well do something useful.

When he passes the soaking wet girl, he doesn't even notice at first. Too lost in machine thoughts. When the realization hits him, he pauses though, glancing back at her, and calling out to her. "Hey, you new here?"

She turned as soon as she heard the voice, eyes opening wide as she let a smile pull over her lips. Such a smiley little thing, she was, even if she was soaking wet.

"I am, how could you tell?" And then the pause and a bit of laughter as she looked down at herself. "It's because I'm wet, isn't it? Everyone comes from up there, don't they?"

Just that casual point up towards the top of the bubble before looking back to him.

That was... a lot of smiling. It caught him off-guard for just a moment. Forgive him, he hasn't exactly met many people this cheery and bright. It doesn't take him long to refind his balance though, nodding slightly.

"Yeah, everybody seems to arrive here soaked to the bone. Though I guess seeing as this is an underwater city that is the least mysterious thing of the entire situation."

"Ah! So we are under water! I thought perhaps it was an illusion of some sort, but that explains why the sun isn't a problem..." She said thoughtfully, glancing up toward the top of the bubble again.

"Have you been here long yourself?" She finally asked as she looked down again, head tilting curiously. She could only assume he wasn't new since he did seem very dry.
