Dinner Party: Getting to Know You

[Lily has finally, finally figured out how to send messages on her SFC, and earlier today sent a short text message to James, Remus, Sirius, and Shin informing them that she would be making them all

[When it came time to go to dinner James put down his makeshift quill, he couldn't work the things he'd found as writing implements, and went into the kitchen. Quickly but carefully, he wrapped his arms around Lily's waist and whispered in her ear.]

Guess who?

[He pushes her up against the counter, holding her tightly around the waist and kissing her as if the more Lily he gets, the more the idea of Sirius and Shin is easier to take in.]

[She makes a sound, one that's unintentional and hungry, pulling him against her.]

[He only pulls back for air and even then he dives right back in because he loves to drown in the essence that is Lily Evans! He also pushes up against, making noises, all thoughts of dinner forgotten.]

Jumping in before you two have sex on the counter. :|

[Sorry, lovebirds there's a knocking at your door. Be thankful Shin was with him, because Sirius would have just barged on in.]

[Before the knock, Lily snakes her arms up around his neck, pulling him down to her as she pushes herself up to meet him, the kiss almost bruising. It's completely inappropriate timing, but Lily is very into this. Somewhere in the back of her mind she muses that at least James will be properly distracted throughout dinner, but most of her attention is focused on James, who makes up for any clumsiness at their newness with earnestness and passion. Oh, she was already in trouble with this boy.]

[...the knocking breaks her out of the moment and she pushes James away, face flush, hair slightly askew]

James! Get the door!

[James is a little dazed when she pushes him away.] Huh?

[Then the knock registers in his mind and he sighs, muttering obsenities about Sirius under his breath. When he finally opens the door, he's still flushed but grinning.]

[Sirius cast a suspicious glance at James after a moment of looking at him, fairly certain he knew what had just been going on.]

Hey there, mate, interrupt something, did we?

[He winks as he walks in, leaving the door way open for the person behind him.]

May I introduce: Shin Mouri.

[And if it weren't for Sirius, Shin would be dressed to the nines. Even if he hated these people - which he didn't, of course - he'd never have refused an invitation to dinner. So, he's dressed in tan slacks and a pale blue shirt with white hood, then an undershirt as well plus flats easy for kicking off at the door.

One thing that Shin couldn't shake - the obligation to bring something over, as a guest in someone else's home. As it's dinner and Shin is himself a cook, he brought what he hoped constituted a side dish or appetizer, wrapped neatly into a box. It contains sushi samples in 10 varieties - and with enough for 5 people to each have two, that's 100 pieces. However, they're styled a little differently, which Shin planned to explain when the moment arose.

He waits until Sirius clears the entryway to make a short bow with his head and shoulders. Nothing too stiff or formal.]

I'm pleased to finally meet you James, at last. [Gasp! A British accent! Practiced, clearly not native, but not American English by a long shot. He steps

[Lily frantically rearranges her hair, and then steps forward to meet Shin, her face still flushed and looking a big guilty. She smiles, however, quickly making the internal switch to Hostess.]

Thank you, Shin. It's lovely to meet you, too.

[Giving a quick nod in greeting to Sirius, she takes the box and sets it on the counter, untying the cloth wrapped around it and peeking in.]

Sushi? This will make a perfect appetizer. Thank you.

[She turns to James.]

James, he brought us sushi.

[James nodded.] As usual, Sirius, your timing sucks. [But he grinned at his friend.]

[As for Shin though, James managed a smile and a nod but didn't speak until Lily told him what he'd brought.] Lovely. [Though he didn't seem as though he really believed what he was saying.

[He smirked, following Shin, though, at James' tone Sirius looked back to James, giving him a 'what's up with you?' expression. However, he looked back to Lily, not really expecting an answer.]

Whatever you've made up there, it smells wonderful.

[Shin could feel the disapproval from James. It wasn't that hard.]

I had hoped fish would be palatable, but there are several varieties to choose from, and wrapped differently so they should be easier to eat without chopsticks. If you don't enjoy one or the other, I won't be offended.

[Because it was so much easier to pawn the unfriendly atmosphere off on the sushi than the elephant in the room.]

[Lily shoots James a small glare, willing him to at least be moderately sociable.]

[Back to Shin and Sirius, Hostess Smile.]

I've made pie. Lots of pie. Shepherd's Pie for dinner, and then apple or cherry pie for dinner. And I think the sushi looks delicious. I don't think James has ever had sushi before, have you James?

[She heads over to the fridge to grab a bottle of wine.]

Wine for everyone, yes?

[She pulls out her wand and pops the cork with a quick 'Accio'.]

[James shook his head, deciding not to speak as it most likely make matters worse. Then he went over to the fridge and grabbed himself a butterbeer instead before sitting down at the table, drinking from the bottle.]

Wine would be lovely, Lils, thanks.

[Quick glance back at James and a one to Shin.]

Um, Shin, why don't you go sit and I'll help Lily with whatever else she needs?
