"I think we had plenty of time to prepare. Now or never, right?"

That's Lea's two cents, anyway, and he gives a flick of his fingers, twirling one of his circular blades around his fingers. He's rested up, cleaned up, and healed up- well, mostly. Just bruises here and there, and his fingers are still a little bandaged up, but really, it's mostly because Lea hasn't remembered to take them off.

He's doing his best to ignore his Nobody, keeping Stein between them as he keeps his gaze right on Ven. "You know we have your back, Ven."

Stein simply nods, without looking over at Lea.

He's noticed the vast majority of similarities between Lea and Axel, but he's pointedly ignoring this fact right now. Right now, he needs to focus on something else entirely. Pointedly, Stein pushes it into the back of his mind, and turns the screw in his head. In the other hand is the familiar weight of the Death Scythe Spirit, and somehow it doesn't ease him.

"Hey, Stein." He can hear Spirit's voice from the blade, and looks up at the reflection of his partner in the steel. "Everything okay?"

He nods and Spirit's lips purse, and he disappears again, the blade just black steel. "Do you know where he is?"

Axel is no stranger to being given the cold shoulder, but this is getting ridiculous. Okay, okay, so he sucks at being the nurturing mentor, so sue him--it was so much easier with Roxas. Roxas was a zombie the first few days, and by the time he was cognizant enough to give him lip, they were friends, more or less. Well, two could play that game; if Lea wanted to ignore him, fine, he could ignore him right back.

... Er. That left the creepy scientist. Right, moving on. Uh. Axel would just keep his focus on Ventus. At least Ventus was a nice kid. And didn't look like he'd been sewn together like that weird girl from Halloweentown. He didn't really know who this guy was, but he hoped he never met Vexen.

Turning his gaze back to Ventus, Axel folds his arms. "I say we just get this party started and smoke this bastard out," he hisses. Axel doesn't make a habit of taking things too seriously, but Vanitas crossed the wrong line when he threatened his friends. If there's one thing Axel does take seriously, that's it.

"Right." Ventus gave Lea a faint nod as he listened quietly to the others behind him. Hm... he could sense the tension between Lea and Axel, but he wasn't about to say anything about it right now. For the moment, there were other things to worry about. Closing his eyes, he began to walk in the night closer to the darkness no matter what his heart said about wanting to reject it. "...I have a hunch."

Follow the darkness... he's in its core.

"More than likely, he'll be overhead soon." As he said that, he looked up along the rooftops of the warehouses they were passing. The hairs on the back of his neck were starting to stand on end. "...We're close."

FIGHT: Unversed [[ACTION]] probation_you February 7 2011, 12:28:54 UTC
[Enough of this; he was sick of talking, sick of watching Ventus side with others for something that was mundane and of little importance. Gritting his teeth, he stands, darkness flowing across his skin and at the rooftop near his feet as he glowers at them all. Friends- idiots, and the worst of them all was Ventus.]

You losers obviously need to be broken. In

[The darkness flares, and for a moment, there's silence. Then Ventus lets out a chilling yell of pain, an Unversed latching onto his ankles and pulling him into the darkness. But before anyone can react, Stein, Scythe, Lea and Axel are surrounded by beasts that only one is likely to be familiar with...]

Goddamn, you people. Leave some tags for the rest of us! oAo prominence_glow February 7 2011, 14:01:20 UTC
Ven!

[Lea tries to grab for him, but it's too late. Ven's gone and he's left holding just air. Before his has time to beat himself up- failed again dammit!- his body goes into autopilot the grab the blade he'd dropped when the monsters show up again.]

You stupid things... I really don't have time to deal with you!

[Fire and air whirl around his blades as he gets rid of the small floating ones first- he doesn't feel like getting his ass frozen by the magical little bastards.]

FIGHT: Ventus vs. Vanitas [[ACTION]] probation_you February 7 2011, 12:52:20 UTC
[The dark corridor ends in time for Ventus to slam down onto the tin roofing, the bolts keeping it together digging into his skin. Vanitas merely stands and waits, Void Gear appearing in one hand. There's no regret, no remorse for his actions, just an underlying...something that makes him all the more furious, because its tearing him up inside.]

You choose them? Fine.

Then you can watch them burn after you join with me.

[There's a wince, and he grits his teeth as he begins to sit up. The look he gives Vanitas is one of betrayal and loss. This is it, he knows it; there's no turning back, anymore. No more chances to reason with him...

Ventus raises his right hand, but not to summon his Keyblade; no, instead it slams into the button on his left shoulder. In a flash he's standing and in his armor, but it's missing something- the helmet. There's nothing to hide.]

No one's going to burn, Vanitas.

[It's said with a final certainty, Lost Memory flashing back into existence. Vanitas...]

They are all going to die- and you are going to help me do it!

[He doesn't initialize fights. That's the idiot's job- the heroic coward with everything left to lose and a desperation that makes them weak. so very ready to fall.]

[And yet here he is, rushing in with wild abandon. That's the difference between himself and the hero; he's never had anything to lose]

No, I won't!

[He's no coward; he's not hiding behind others anymore... because he doesn't have to. This is the first time, for him, that no one's protected him. Now that there's nothing to buffer it... his heart's racing, trying to think of just one more way-

Vanitas is rushing in, and it's with a tear that he crosses blades with his dark half, creating a small shockwave. He might have everything to lose, but... that just made it everything to fight for.

He doesn't want to, but he's finding himself pushing against the blade, casting a close-range fire spell.]
