"Are you writing in your diary?" he asked, his gaze still flickering elsewhere aside from the girl's writing. He didn't look, he swore on it.

Olette hadn't even noticed Roxas' presence until he spoke up, and so she had to sit there for a few seconds, wonder how long he'd been there, and ultimately decide against asking. It didn't really matter; she hadn't been writing anything that she would have wanted to keep private, but his reaction to the possibility was a sweet gesture. Pence knew better than to look, but Hayner would have been nosy from the start.
"No, nothing like that." She tapped his hand with her pencil to get him to look back to her, giving him a smile. "I don't have a diary here."

"Whatcha got there? Homework of some sort?"

"Homework of some sort," she agreed, lowering her pencil to the paper. It seemed to be a report she was working on, though an extremely rough draft of one. "It was the only assignment I could remember."

"Interesting topic choice," he commented, though the scientist in him wanted to raise an eyebrow at the supernatural. Though, with meeting Amaterasu his first day here... Ugh.

"One of my friends is a huge supernatural fan," and she said it dryly, because even that was an understatement. "He's heard every single rumor out there about our town, so I figured I might as well use it for our independent study. We just ended up... involved, sort of."

"Don't tell me they're giving you homework here, too. Now that's just cruel."
Reply
"They didn't give it to me. I'm just doing what I can remember from home."

"Wow, my teachers would have loved you. What do you have there?"
Pulling up a seat, she leaned in to get an even closer look at her work. Maybe they were just going easier on kids these days.

Olette watched the woman curiously, not too worried about letting her view her work. "We had a lot of stuff to do for independent studies," she admitted. "And my friends are probably still dragging their feet on it, so I thought I should do something about it while I was here."

[He makes a face hearing Olettes murmurs to herself.]
'Mysteries of Twilight Town?' Math? Is that what I think it is?

[ for once, Olette isn't incredibly surprised by this voice, and only glances up once she's finished working out a sentence. ]
Yep, it is.

[Oh man, Vatheon's not shoving all the kids in classrooms now, are they? It's been two years since he last did any of that stuff!]

Olette is just not right today. ]
No one. [ back to writing. ] I just realized, Hayner and Pence probably won't finish up with it if I'm not around to make them do it, and I can't let them fall behind...

... and since he doesn't understand anything on that, he decided to ask.]
What is that?

Homework.

... or maybe someone gave it to her.]
Really? Are you studying under someone here?
