When he spotted that splotch of orange sitting over yonder (it was kinda hard to miss) Roxas walked on over, not really knowing what to say, and briefly glanced over her shoulder, curious by the fact that Olette seemed to be intensely focusing all her attention on something. He then seemed to quickly realize something and flipped his head abruptly to the side.

"Are you writing in your diary?" he asked, his gaze still flickering elsewhere aside from the girl's writing. He didn't look, he swore on it.

"Huh?"

Olette hadn't even noticed Roxas' presence until he spoke up, and so she had to sit there for a few seconds, wonder how long he'd been there, and ultimately decide against asking. It didn't really matter; she hadn't been writing anything that she would have wanted to keep private, but his reaction to the possibility was a sweet gesture. Pence knew better than to look, but Hayner would have been nosy from the start.

"No, nothing like that." She tapped his hand with her pencil to get him to look back to her, giving him a smile. "I don't have a diary here."

He was carrying some groceries in his arms, a shishkabob hanging out in his mouth when he the muttering caught his attention. Mysteries? Nature? ...Color him intrigued. He places the bags on a table nearby, removing the food stick from his mouth as he casually glances over her shoulder, head tilted to the side.

"Whatcha got there? Homework of some sort?"

Olette glanced up, a little startled by some unknown guy peering over her shoulder-- but he didn't look any sort of threatening. Just curious.

"Homework of some sort," she agreed, lowering her pencil to the paper. It seemed to be a report she was working on, though an extremely rough draft of one. "It was the only assignment I could remember."

He moves a bit to the side so he's not looking over her shoulder, just to the side. Huh... Must have been a pretty interesting place she's from.

"Interesting topic choice," he commented, though the scientist in him wanted to raise an eyebrow at the supernatural. Though, with meeting Amaterasu his first day here... Ugh.

Oh yes, Ed. Olette's home was full of sunsets, ice cream, and random guys in black cloaks who ran around like stalkers.

"One of my friends is a huge supernatural fan," and she said it dryly, because even that was an understatement. "He's heard every single rumor out there about our town, so I figured I might as well use it for our independent study. We just ended up... involved, sort of."

The mountain of books, the table covered in sheets of paper - Ema recognized that scene all too well. She had been walking in a slightly different direction, but made a sharp turn around one of the tables. There was no way she could leave without making absolutely sure. As casually as possible, she passed behind the girl, slowing down enough to get a look at the paper she was writing on so intently. An essay: it was just as Ema feared.

"Don't tell me they're giving you homework here, too. Now that's just cruel."

It took a few seconds before Olette lifted her head, confused but earnest when she replied-- in what was probably something not SOP for a teenage girl. And she didn't even look like she was joking.

"They didn't give it to me. I'm just doing what I can remember from home."

Voluntary schoolwork? That was practically an oxymoron. Homework was meant to be dreaded, put off until the last minute and done only out of obligation. It was practically a write of passage! At least, it had been for Ema. But the girl said it with such a straight face that she had no choice but to believe her.

"Wow, my teachers would have loved you. What do you have there?"

Pulling up a seat, she leaned in to get an even closer look at her work. Maybe they were just going easier on kids these days.

Not in terms of algebra, giving some of the problems Olette had copied down from one of the books she'd managed to find. Though the majority of the papers were rough drafts of essays, as though she was trying to give the writing a certain feel.

Olette watched the woman curiously, not too worried about letting her view her work. "We had a lot of stuff to do for independent studies," she admitted. "And my friends are probably still dragging their feet on it, so I thought I should do something about it while I was here."

[Sora happens by Olette at the plaza on another snack run which explains the bag at his side. It's filled with goodies for him, Riku and Kairi- just the ones they like (and a few ones he wants to try with them).]

[He makes a face hearing Olettes murmurs to herself.]

'Mysteries of Twilight Town?' Math? Is that what I think it is?

Homework?

[ for once, Olette isn't incredibly surprised by this voice, and only glances up once she's finished working out a sentence. ]

Yep, it is.

Homework? Who's making you do do that?!

[Oh man, Vatheon's not shoving all the kids in classrooms now, are they? It's been two years since he last did any of that stuff!]

[ don't worry, Sora, you're safe.

Olette is just not right today. ]

No one. [ back to writing. ] I just realized, Hayner and Pence probably won't finish up with it if I'm not around to make them do it, and I can't let them fall behind...

[here, Olette. have a bored-looking boy sit next to you and stare at what you're doing...

... and since he doesn't understand anything on that, he decided to ask.]

What is that?

Really? Are you studying under someone here?
