[She turns to Akina.]

Right, well, I'd imagine you've got a lot of questions, Alice.

[He doesn't know if he'll ever get used to such kindness. Physical touch. Care.

And he smiles a little at her.]

I guess so.

[And he pauses, nodding.]

Yeah, just...what was that?

Well... it's a kind of long story.

See, where we come from, there are two worlds - the human world, and the Otherworld. Youkai live in the Otherworld, and humans in the human world.

Now, these two worlds take up the exact same space, but exist in different "frequencies." Sometimes, a youkai will somehow end up in the human world. While in the human world, their powers get unstable, and this can cause some trouble. The big thing though, is that between the two worlds, there is one humongous difference - death. Youkai in the Otherworld will never age and die. In the human world, though, they get elderly and pass away from old age.

So, lots of times, youkai will look for a way to get back to the Otherworld. That's where tuning comes in. Through tuning, you can be set to the frequency of the Otherworld, and you go there, ceasing to exist in the human world.

...is this making any sense?

[He frowns a little.]

Cease to exist...? But I was still here, right?

Well, that's the thing. Tuning doesn't seem to work in Vatheon. You were only partially tuned, with part of your body and soul trying to be in one place while the rest of you was trying to be in another.

...That still doesn't make any sense, but I guess it explains something.

[Sigh.]

...So what now? I don't know what he's planning.

Yeah. It's kind of confusing.

Now we just have to make sure that Enjin bastard can't get to you. Onii-chan was talking about making sure that someone's always with you. Someone who has experience with that bastard. We're having a group meeting.

Yeah, we don't really know what he's planning in Vatheon. At least back in Sakurashin, we knew what his goals were.

[He...really wishes he didn't, anyway.

You do if that Enjin bastard's after you. Right, Akina-san?

Well, we've dealt with him before, so we know some things. For all his tricks, he's physically pretty weak.

Well...so long as we can keep Neku and everyone else safe, I guess that's all we can do right now.
