Mikuru was out for a stroll. When she wasn't stalking protecting Itsuki or trying to clean, she had a habit of wandering the Void both to familiarize herself with the place and assess any potential dangers. Part of this wandering always involved the lake. Having almost drowned there on her arrival, she wanted to learn how to swim, but was still scared of the water, particularly with the way it turned into blood at the Dark Hour. She hoped that just regularly being around the lake would help her get over this.

Who would have known that her stroll would take her to Itsuki anyway?

The Itsuki here was from Haruhi's world and not hers, but he was still familiar enough to make her feel relatively at ease, and his being near by made him easier to protect. Thus she broke into a smile and ran to catch up with him.

"Hello," she greeted him, slowing to walk at his side.

Oh, it just figured the person he was looking for would find him when he had just given up. Itsuki let himself gawk for a moment, turning to face her, then broke out into a wide grin.

"Miss Asahina, it's good to see you. I've been looking everywhere for you."

Mikuru's eyes widened in surprise. The Itsuki she knew here in the Void was not nearly so expressive as this, and nor would he be looking for her unless it was important; there was no urgency in his greeting.

"You have? ...Is something wrong?" she ventured regardless.

"Not anymore," he said, resisting the urge to hug her. That wouldn't be proper at all now, would it? He didn't want her to think he was a pervert or anything--that near kiss when she'd been passed out in his room still made him feel a little guilty.

"I can't believe you've been here for so long. Why, the last I saw of you before I was brought here, you and my little sister were going out to buy some groceries."
