Carol, thanks for such detailed and helpful info. I attended your lecture on World Building at Surrey. As a published fantasy writer, I'm hoping you might answer a question for me.

I met with an editor and an agent at Surrey who both expressed interest, but said I needed to seriously shorten the length of my manuscript before I sent it to them. However, as you pointed out in your lecture, a world needs backstory to be believable- history, details of its geography, currency etc. (I myself love big books and series and even series of big books.) How can I keep agents/editors from being scared off by the length of my manuscript? Can you recommend any who actually seek epic stories?

I've discussed this with my beta readers and they assure me that I am not rambling.
