It's a little sad that this needed to be said, but you're right. Some folks are in such a hurry to bring themselves and their work to an agent's attention, they don't stop to think about whether or not they're making the right impression.

Wow. I can't imagine going to an agent's blog/site and giving a sales pitch, or any of the other things you listed. I'm an aspiring writer, and sometimes I wonder if I'm being too intrusive just by following this LJ. The thought of posting writing excerpts here out of the blue makes me cringe.
