Aw! That was cute. It's not bad for a first-time fic, you write well which I think is often the biggest battle and though the storyline is a little too happy for my liking (I really live angst) you've done a good job!

I'm a huge Rigsby/Van Pelt fan so I was very happy to find this right before bed!

Thanks :) Really great to hear that sort of comment for my first fic! Rigsby and Van Pelt are by far my favourite characters on the Mentalist.

If you'd like, I could try and write some more angst :) Any ideas?

You're welcome! :) I know how hard it can be to write and to put yourself out there like this.

If you want to!!! Erm, ideas? Not really sure, prompts are what help me to write. Have you ever heard of

Awesome, thanks! I'll have a look and see if I can write some more angst-riden fics. I have a plan in mind for one already :)

This wasn't bad for a first try at a fic. I'm with miss_peg, it was a bit sappy for me, especially considering the subject matter. But there are lots of folks out there that like the sappy. Good solid first try.

Thank you so much! I'll try to write a little less sappy next time then :)

Welcome to LJ and thanks for following my creativity comm, notamoment. It was a really pleasant surprise after a long night working night shift, followed by trying to sleep during the day.

I'm going to echo the sentiments that this is good for a first time affair. The hardest hurdle with writing is always the first step - starting. The more you write, the more you'll improve.

I am going to add this: don't make yourself write stories/genres just to please the masses. Write what makes you happy. That lands up being very stressful and unhealthy - I've learned that the hard way. You have to stay true to yourself.

For me, personally, I've discovered that's Jane/Lisbon angst fic (I'm a massive J/L fan, and of Lisbon especially). If Rigsby/Van Pelt fluff is where you find your groove, then so be it. There will always be an audience for it, whatever you find most comfortable with.

Thanks so much! It truly means a lot to hear someone say that. I will try my hand at writing a few different fics, and see which one I enjoy most :)

That sounds like a good plan! :-) I also find it good to change things up occasionally, even if I do have my favourite genres and the like.

Yeah :) I'm thinking about a Jane/Lisbon fic, but not sure whether to keep it friendship or add in something more. I'm not really a huge fan of the whole 'Jisbon' thing, but I could give it a go.
