Nikko

Before I went to China I took a quick weekend up to Nikko with my good friend Marie (pronounced Mah-ree-ae).

Wow, when I went to Nikko a year & 1/2 ago I took a picture almost exactly like one of yours!! Talking about the rows of moss-covered lanterns :)

Nikko is beautiful, though since I am from Michigan I didn't think very much of their "big" lake haha. If you go again I recommend going to Edo Wonderland (Edo Mura), the ninja/edo themed village.... and also the lovely waterfall in Nikko is a must-see.

We did see the waterfall near Chuzenji, but I don't know I wasn't that impressed. I think there is another one further down the road as well but we didn't have time for that one.

The maze is right across the street from Edo-mura! We thought about going there but we had time constraints and we decided on the maze and trick museum instead. I highly recommend both. They were really fun!

I loved Nikko, although I only spent there 1/2 a day. I probably wouldn't have visited if my Japanese "host family" didn't take me there back then :D
Thanks for the photos. Brings back memories :)

Those optical illusion pics are awesome! That's so cool. And the temple pics are amazing. So evocative. Thanks for sharing!
