It's The Secret Country by Pamela Dean - it's the first in an amazing trilogy. Each book actually gets better, which is pretty rare. The plot centers around 5 cousins who find a couple swords and a gateway into the magical world they'd made up... only to find that their Secret Country is uncomfortably real, and tends to upset their expectations. Add in the problem of being two places at once, magicians, whimsical unicorns, a conquest-minded shape-shifter king, and all kinds of quotes drawn from poems, folk songs and Shakespeare, and that is The Secret Country.
Man, I love your fanmix! Thanks so much; I also grabbed 19 and 24 out of your icons. Thank you again, and I'll be sure to credit you! I've certainly gotten compliments about the friends-only banner you made for me!
Thank you! I'm glad you're happy with the banner. :D
*lol@your icon* Words cannot express how disappointed I am with that movie before I've even seen it. The more I hear the worse it gets. No Arthurian myths? The Lady is a ninja? Rider has a love interest?? Will's family is abusive/neglectful?? Blech.
Hmm, definitely go forth and read it. It's newly republished, and here is the amazon page, but it hasn't been adapted for a movie. I'm not sure you could keep all the awesomeness of the language intact in a movie form, although in the right hands I think a movie adaptation could be just as wonderful with or without the middle English and such. The pics I've used to illustrate it are all from getty or punchstock, or random internet searching.

Also, that soundtrack sounds awesome! Is it one I could buy from Amazon, or is it one I would have to download?

Can you provide a little background? I can see that it's from a book series but has it been adapted or have you found images to illustrate it?
I've snagged #33 & #34 for use on my dream journal.
