Room 324, Saturday Afternoon

Nov 13, 2010 18:11

Since getting back from her impromptu trip to New York, Kate had mostly been keeping to herself. It had been kind of a heavy trip in parts, and it didn't help that that damn edginess was still going on. So she'd just spent time by herself as much as possible ( Read more... )

Bod was seriously beginning to wonder if the island was ever going to let him feel normal and calm again. As it was, he still felt like he wanted to climb the walls but he was forcefully pushing those feelings down.

Carrying a bag from town and still wearing a jacket from his trip, he knocked on that half open door and waited to see if anyone was inside.

"I'm here," Kate called out, a little absently. She was just looking at picture of two of the cutest penguin plushies she'd ever seen, and was wondering whether she could or should get one for Bobby's birthday.

It was riveting stuff.

"Hullo," he said, poking his head around the door and letting his eyes fall on her. "It's just me. I thought I'd come say hullo."

There was a brief nervous look on Kate's face when she heard his voice. It was unavoidable, first time meeting the boyfriend after having a private little relationship crisis on her own. Which she knew she still probably had to talk to him about, but maybe not right now.

Especially when she was still in full-on princess mode, even if her helmet was on the desk and she hadn't actually bothered with the makeup.

And that nervous look was gone before she turned to look at him over her shoulder with a little smile. "Hey. Come in."

"Were you doing another video?" Bod asked, slipping inside and shutting the door behind him. "Or did you have another comic book store appointment?"

Hey, the island did have a comic book store so it wasn't a completely off base question.

"Nah, I just took a picture to send to the people on my email list," she replied, turning to sit sideways in the chair so she could rest one of her arms on the back of it. "I've been meaning to set something up with the comic book shop here but I haven't gotten around to it."

"What's an email list?" Bod asked, taking a seat lightly on the edge of her bed, bag on his lap. "I should clarify, I know what email is so I can assume but I wasn't sure what it was used for."

"Basically just sending the same email to a bunch of people at the same time," Kate shrugged. "Useful for keeping fans informed of what's going on. News and stuff. Like, bands tend to use them a lot."

"And you can use one because you're famous?" Bod asked, smiling at that. "And people might want your autograph?"

"I don't think they want my autograph," she said, but smiled anyway. "But, they might wanna know what's up in fantasyland, so... Email list."

"It sounds logical," Bod agreed, nodding. "I've some donuts from town, if you're hungry. I woke up far too early so I've been out walking and running and eating."

"Hopefully not all at the same time," Kate teased, getting up so she could wander over to the bed, only it looked far more precise than wandering since she was wearing her insane boots. She sat down next to him. "I had chocolate earlier, but donuts sound good."

"I am never going to know how you manage not to fall down in those boots," he said, eyes wide for said boots and for the fact that she'd come closer to him again and every part of him was aware of it.

He swallowed and offered her the bag. "There's several in there. I bought a lot because the clerk seemed a little frazzled."

"That sounds like a weird reason to buy a lot but okay," Kate said, amused, as she reached into the bag for a donut. "It's a weird week so it's acceptable."

She'd gotten a little mesmerized by the way the ridiculous plastic breastplate pushed her breasts up for the first five minutes after putting it on, for one thing. It was that kind of a week.

"I felt bad and was trying to make her day a little better," Bod replied, shrugging. "I couldn't do much else but maybe making a good sale would be helpful."

Kate snickered. "Well, if she's suffering from the same as everyone else on this island --" And off it. "-- you would've had to do a lot more than buy a lot of stuff from her."
