Car is dead. Got an estimate from my guy, whom I trust. He enumerated various things wrong wih It would have been cheaper to replace the motor, except I don't have a spare $750

My oldest son has a pick-up truck for sale but it has issues and he is asking $900.

If the car is de-registered, then you should be able to get the insurance payment back pretty quickly. Can you get anything for the car for scrap or selling it for parts?

$300 for scrap, minus $60 for towing, which I wasn't informed of in advance or I'd've gotten Geico to do it.

I got that car from HWSNBN's mom---his sis got a newer car, and the dealership wouldn't give them much for tradein, so they gave it to me. Almost exactly ten years ago, and it gave me relatively few problems. Ugly as hell, but a real champ.
