I find myself similarly conflicted about going to my own reunion. I was the bullied kid in school, and I just really don't feel like hobnobbing with the people who victimized me as a child. Unless, of course, their lives all turn out to have gone WAY crappier than mine. We shall see....
Never made it to any reunions until the 30th~ it was nice and the food was decent. It was at the Radisson on the beach. Kind of pricey but a nice walk down memory lane. I had the misguided thought that I would be the only one there who had gained weight or gone gray~ not so! Some of the folks, I didn't even recognize. I felt pretty good after I went home.
I stayed at the motel with GK, who didn't go either. We went swimming--I wore my "new" Goodwill swimsuit---and I honestly don't feel like I missed anything
As stated above, I passed on the reunion, no great loss.
Susie could achieve Olympian levels of asshattery. When she was still compos mentis, she offset that what smarts and humor and charm. When she was on the downhill slide, mostly we avoided her.
I did my tenth reunion and haven't bothered with any since. No desire WHATSOEVER, especially since it would require a trans-con flight that I am in NO MOOD to deal with. The few people I care to be in contact with from that time, I already am. So I fully support you in blowing off the whole thing. I think you'll love the movie, although (as you'll see from my post, if you read it afterwards) I have issues.
Yeah, I did my tenth, and it reminded me why I loathed HS. I thought it might be fun, after so long, that it would be more like a bunch of people who shared a similar zeitgeist instead of "those assholes who teased me". Moot point now....
