And another thing....

Friday's Kitchen Nightmares had Gordon Ramsey saving a Mexican restaurant, complaining that the cochinita pibil was bland and too dry...but at least he didn't shoot the cook. During my OUaTiM* phase, I made puerco pibil several times, and correctly made, it should be neither bland nor dry. Ever. It certainly was a blast from the past, as that ( Read more... )

movie, question du jour, cooking, period

No, actually, I was thinking about that recent news story about the woman who found mold on her unused tampon. Ewwww!

oooooo, I love cochinita pibil and i don't know how to make it! i used to work in a Mexican restaurant but they didn't have cochinita pibil on the menu so I never learned how to make it. Can you send me a recipe?
also I hate Gordon Ramsay. I've worked in a lot of restaurants for bosses who were abusive assholes, some of them even worse than he is. I can't watch him.
ugh. I know the feeling before I had my hysterectomy last year.

If I can find said recipe; I haven't done it in years. But if you check the extras on the OUaTiM DVD, the director will walk you through his version. (I dispensed with the banana leaves and simmered it in a slow cooker.)

The moment when I read that Ramsay was doing stuff in Mexican restuarant I KNEW where this entry was going...
Not that tidbit about moldy tampons, though... Which gives me an odd brain-mix about Teletubbies as those creatures were ridiculed around here as TV-tampons...

The mold thing was a news story about a week ago, complete with a picture of the tampon in question. Eeeew! Fortunately, nothing came of my fears. which is good. I am ready for full-on menopause.

Here there was a lot of fuss that the Teletubbies were promoting the gay agenda...IDK. Some church group was all bent out of shape about it a few years ago. Idjits.

Tampons are tricky sometimes...

Teletubbies and gayness? If we take the 1st literal meaning, then yes, they were a happy merry lot.
But homosexuality? Are people insane? No. Do not answer that.

Something about the purple one having a triangle on top of his head? Because that's *so* gay.

I don't remember the exact details---that was all about 10 years ago---but it was about that stupid. I'm all for people being able to worship as they please, but a lot of themare what my friend AI calls "sheeple"---they listen to whatever crap their minister spouts, no matter how irrational, and they never think for themselves.

Before I get in trouble here, let me just add that I don't think all Christians or ministers fall into that category, but boy oh boy, the ones who do are real bozos.
