I turned on NPR evening news yesterday evening just in time to catch a snippet of him singing "cheer up sleepy Jean," and my heart sank.

And you know you're getting older when 66 seems young to have died. He still seemed youthful to me.

I dunno---66 seems like no-man's land: It's beyond "middle-aged", but certainly not ancient. Although that may be because my dad lived to be 75, but the rest of my family (mom, bro) died in their 50s.

On the other hand, that's a few years older than John Lennon ever got to be....
