Brain dump as I think aloud about home improvement

As I mentioned, a couple weeks ago, Mb and I visited the ASPCA thrift store. While we were there, I fell in love with a dresser. The only thing that stopped me was the charge for delivery, which would've doubled the cost of the piece. Now, I'm second-guessing myself, halfway wishing I'd gotten the darned thing, and contemplating revisiting it when ( Read more... )

"It would be nice if...." You and me both kiddo!

My beverage of choice, a nice cold beer. Failing that, room temperature Ginger Ale. *rolls eyes*

Had to chuckle---I have a feeling that your definition of "room temperature" is at least ten degrees cooler than mine!

My secret weapon for upholstery and drapery material cheap in 56 inch widths: http://www.newtoto.com/

Be sure to request swatches (they're free) because many of their fabrics are used in the hospitality or automotive industries and you're going to need to see how the pattern looks in a small room and how it feels if you're going to be sitting on it.

You can also Google for coupon codes. This company frequently has 10 percent off all orders for a month. And they send the fabric on a roll, not folded, so you won't have to worry about trying to iron out creases.

Have been browsing and Hmm'ing. Am rather taken with http://www.newtoto.com/538yapidmote.html, a modest small-scale all-over print. Piece is just about large enough to cover my loveseat and would go with the rest of the furniture in the room. And such a deal!

Ooh, very nice! That coppery-orange is one of my favorite colors in decor. Somewhere on that site they have a sort of leopard print brown sheer drapery material that looks so fun -- it made me think of you and your love leopard.

Fabric.com sometimes has fabulous sales on decor fabric, like this Osnaburg drapery fabric for $3.98, but they do charge for swatches. I got some fabulous paisley twill heavy-duty cotton from there to make the throw pillows for our sofa.

The other upholstered set in the room is a wicker chair and ottoman with cushions in a striped velvet, cranberry-rust-gold-sage. I *could* cover the cushions, but I rather like autumnal colors.

Now I'm eyeing this, http://www.newtoto.com/flisurefaand.html which seemsto be complimentary color-wise, and the pattern is a bit wickerish.
