Icon use is ironic. Talk of lady issues ahead

Sep 16, 2011 16:50

I've been having a rough couple of days. Yesterday, with no warning whatsoever, I got hit with my first period in two years and three months. (I'd forgotten what a massively icky nuisance it is, although this one seems a little extreme, I gotta say.) I don't think it's a sign of something wrong with my lady-parts; I have anecdotal accounts from ( Read more... )

I really thought I was over all that.

Thanks, honey. I really appreciate it. That'll take care of the cost of supplies and put a few swallows of gas in my tank.

That must be supremely annoying. It's a good reason to stay in, though.

Ran out for reinforcements, but didn't linger. I'm hoping to be fit for polite society by Sunday!

At the moment, I'm thinking the same. On the other hand, except for some teeth, I've got all my original parts. Not just the ladybits, but tonsils, appendix and gallbladder, too. Never been hospitalized, knock wood (a few ER visits, but nothing drastic). Usually, I'm not a wuss about this stuff, but I've had two solid days of cramps---if I was home, I would've ferreted out a hydrocodone or two and blitzed it. OTC ain't doing shit.

I had my appendix out years ago. i have a missing ovary because it had a tumor on it the size of a damn melon that was causing really bad abdominal pain for a year because it kept getting misdiagnosed (ironic given my obsession with a character who probably could have diagnosed it in five minutes. While he had a hangover.).
I had to have the hysterectomy because I was having extremely painful heavy periods that sometimes wouldn't stop. i had been on hormones for a few years which was working and then it didn't work anymore. My doctor told me my uterus was WAYYY bigger than it's supposed to be in a woman who's never been pregnant, to the point where it was actually pushing my other organs out of place, which is normal in a pregnant woman but not otherwise.

*winces* Oww. I've been pretty lucky as far as cycles go, I know. My friend Mb had to have a hysterectomy a few years ago because of endometriosis---they did the same thing, gave her hormones and hoped it would be okay. Nope, she got more and more miserable, and the skinflint insurance *dfinally* okayed the removal. Until perimenopause set in, though, I was abnormally normal.
