Why what?

Yesterday at church, I don't remember how we got onto the subject, but I told someone that I really hate being bombarded with the question, "Why?". As in, "Why is your house such a mess?" "Why don't you lose some weight?" Whywhywhywhywhy---? (GK, who is very analytical, does this all the time. She agreed with me. The person who asks may have the ( Read more... )

Someone would actually ask you why your house is a mess or why you don't lose weight? Really?? I believe I'd have to open up a can of whoop ass if someone asked me those questions.

Sometimes my own critical inner voice supplies the questions, like those. "Why can't you get your act together?" is a favorite. And it goes on to add, "Everybody else does it, they don't seem to have a problem acting like a grown-up, they all have jobs and spouses and nice homes and cars that aren't a piece of shit, they don't worry about having enough money to go see a movie, their bills are all paid and they have savings. Having bags of cans to recycle is not the same as having savings."

If it makes you feel any better, I do have to worry about going to a movie as well. We live week to week. I have a whopping $24 in savings. Won't help much if I lose my job!
We are all over extended - it's just that some people would like us to believe that they have it all under control. Most of us don't have it under control at all- we just get through day by day. It will all come into fruition for you. Just hang in there!!!

Eh, I know I'm not the only one, and a lot of people have it worse than I do. It just feels like such a never-ending struggle, and it's been going on for so long.

I called to ask about the job and was told by the person who answered the phone that the manager will be making calls about it later. So I'm going to stay close to the phone and resist the urge to call and BEG. If I don't hear anything today, I *will* call again tomorrow.
