Nobody messes with my Mb!

Have been on the phone with Mb---Ahab is creating drama, trying to claim (to social services) that Mb abused him and stole his money. She's all tied in knots about it, and I assured her that I'd testify on her behalf. She put her own life on hold for months to deal with him and his shit, and she totally does not deserve to be treated this way.

One of the terrible cruelties of dementia is that those suffering it lash out the worst at their closest caregivers. My mother used to accuse me of stealing back in the early, crazy years of Alzheimer's, while my brother who never lifted a finger to help was an angel in her eyes.

I know you've said Mb's SO is estranged from Ahab, but he may need to step in and tell the old captain to cool his jets because everybody's just trying to help him.

*virtual hugs to Mb*

SO's intervention would be the opposite of helpful; they've come to blows once or twice that I've heard about. The soul of calmness he isn't.

And, like your situation, there's a nephew who's his pride and joy---over his own son. Major dysfuntion in that family!

No one is going to take what he's saying seriously

I hope not; he's reported it to the department of children and families, which is freaking her out. Of course, once they realize he can'tremember what he had for breakfast or lunch and repeats himself contantly, they should chalk it up to his delusional thinking.

I hope all goes well. *hugs Mb* If the officials do get involved, perhaps they can persuade him he'll be 'safer' in a home. :-/

Nobody ever told that old buzzard anything. He's not safe to drive, but he's got a very nice car he's making payments on and because his driving record is so bad, insurance costs him $600 A MONTH. Oh, and his license was revoked last November. If he got his hands on a set of keys, though, he'd be off. A rubber room is the safest place for him.

I know, that sounds awful, but I've spent time with him. And despite what people say about the disease, it isn't just that: His own son bitterly says he's always been like that.
