Batter up!
From China to the local IHOP, what's your favorite meal involving pancakes?Growing up, my mom made what we always called Norwegian pancakes. The original recipe was my Norwegian grandmother's, although I have it on good authority that Mom's were better ( Read more... )

My favorite would be moo-shu pork served up rolled in those delicious thin Chinese pancakes. Nom!

I like pancakes okay, but as a breakfast food I actually like French toast better. I had some in St. Augustine made with real French bread, butter and cinnamon, and it was incredibly delicious.

I like pork egg foo yung, as long as they don't put green peas in it. I regard that as an abomination. Haven't had that in a while.

I'm more likely to make french toast than pancaskes---and I've never attempted the Norwegian variety---made with Texas toast (the extra thick slices). The St Augustine version sounds yummy!

Maybe it's one of those things you grow up with that's normal to you? (At age 11, I wasn't sold on the idea of cream cheese and jelly, until my friend made me try it.) Although these days, I don't DO American cheese. Maybe a nice white cheddar.)

I only ever eat pancakes at restaurants now and not that often. (I like them, but ideally I avoid simple carbohydrates and sugar - I feel much better when I do and think I'm insulin-resistant, so it makes sense to - but we don't live in an ideal world!) When I was a kid, we'd put peanut butter on our pancakes before the syrup. My mom did it, her grampa did it. My dad thought it was horrifying! It's very good.

Isn't it funny what some people think is odd? I like chocolate milk on my cereal and one of my friends is squicked. No clue why.

Pancakes does sound good. However, I've never been any good at cooking them myself, and right now hiring a chef is out of the question.
