Hoarding and scrapbooking

I don't usually watch the original CSI, but I saw the previews and tuned in for this week's ep...about hoarding. You know me, I did a talk on it for church, I *had* to see it. (Despite the fact that I've kind of gone off the reality shows on the subject ( Read more... )

That story about the woman buried under the debris in their home was just horrible. There was a hoarding case in an Atlanta suburb recently where neighbors said they could smell the house from the street even though all the windows and doors were closed tight. The fire department rescue guys who went in to get the dying tenant had wear haz-mat suits with breathing apparatus and be decontaminated when they came out. *shudders*

I love your idea of scrapbooking the plans for the house. I did that on a small scale -- a cardboard folder with a half-dozen pages from magazines -- when we re-decorated the interior of our first home, and it worked out really well.

Two boxes decluttered is a nice-sized baby step. Yay! for you!

Is it horrible that I have smug feelings of "I'm bad, but I'm not THAT bad!"? Although, there are probably scads of people who'd look around this place and say the same thing. Yes, there's clutter, but you can see enough floor to walk on; it's not a landfill.

The scrapbooking...it helps me face reality: Things that will work in a 3000 square foot house with 10' ceilings aren't necessarily going to translate to 1400 square foot and8' ceilings. Or sometimes I'll run across a room that's configured the same as one of mine, and it'll show me things I wouldn't have thought of.

2 down, 198 to go....
