This morning I woke up with a sheet pulled up around me, the first time in months that I've been able to do that. I like to sleep with at least a sheet---so cozy---but with the usual 90+ temps, it just hasn't been feasible

On a good year, when we've had enough rain, fall is gorgeous here. The colors on the mountains are just amazing. But if it's too dry, everything just turns brown and dies pretty quickly.
January was an evil month. I'd have frozen to death at work if the Padre hadn't brought in his little oil heater.
Boy howdy, was it ever! Around here, if it gets below 50, the locals, me included, start making "We're gonna freeze to death!" noises. We had a two week stretch where 40 *might* be the daytime high. Might.
Ain't that the truth! (Oh, and btw---it's here! Yay! And good timing, too, because the State of florida is trying to KILL me. For whatever fucked up reason, I'm only getting ONE week of benefits on this check, and I needed every nickel of the full two weeks I was supposed to get. And naturally the fucking automated phone system tells me there's no one available to take my call and hungs up on me. Fuckers.)
I hope you'll like it...I'll email it to you when it's done. I think I'm going to hold off and post it at CAYN (It's a Halloween party for fiction writers---the idea is to write something that's a departure for you, or "Come As You're Not".). And while I have previously dabbled in the fandom, that was canon-based. This has 47 in a scenario...let's just say *I've* never done it before, so it's definitely a departure.

The only thing I don't like about fall is the waning amount of daylight. I get winter blues starting in September most years.

Last year, it was wicked hot well into November. Then we froze our asses off for weeks on end in January---not much in between!
I'm ready this year, though. I have enough long-sleeved layering pieces that I will be well-dressed and comfortable regardless of the weather.
