This week has gone by with super-sonic speed. Let me take a deep breath and catch up. I spent more of Tuesday with GK and Kat, running around on various errands. To begin with, I met them at Kat's and we went to the mall to shop for an outfit for her (Kat) to wear to the wedding. The found a very nice black and grey suit ($139), and I found two ( Read more... )

Whoo-whee, you've been busy!

One of those day of the week sectioned medicine boxes always looks like a good idea, but they really work only for someone who can keep up with what day it is. I hope Kat's not that far gone.

Medication management and forgetting to eat were the main reasons why we moved Mom into assisted living in 1997. She did well there for a long time, probably because she was getting her medication and meals done properly.

GK is trying to guide her to the local apartment complex for seniors, which is less than a mile from me. There's a cafeteria and visiting nurse in the building, it's right next door to her pharmacy and across the street from Winn-Dixie, and if we could get her in there, we could hopefully get her place sold and not have to pay lot rent. (She owns the trailer but rents the space it's in.)

We're really hoping the patches will help, but tonight we premeasured a week's doses and I'll go over at least once a week to check in on her. And call regularly as well. She's going to sign a waiver at her doctor's so they'll be able to keep me in the loop without violating HIPPA regs.

And so it goes....

Sad to hear that your good friend is so sick. I'm glad you have the time to spend with her.

It was a busy week by the sound of, and exhausting.... But the Goodwill finds sound super, and hey, any week that has salmon in it, twice, is a pretty good week. :D

Being fired has definitely been a mixed blessing.

Goodwill was good, and next weekend ought to be a blast. We'll see how it goes.

Meds, artical I read, fun stuff... missybrat August 30 2009, 12:14:10 UTC
For the meds, a daily pill thing sounds like it is needed. (I am fixing to get one because my doctor has my meds all whacked out. 2 pills 5 days a week, 1 pill 2 days a week (same meds mind you), then it is 2 pills 4 days a week, 1 pill 3 days a week. UGH! Make up your mind!! LOL! I'm not certain that a "normal" person with good memory could remember my pill schedule and I only have 2 meds that I am taking! LOL!) But with a pill holder that has the days of the week, it should make it easier for me to remember. (Now all I have to worry about is if I remember the right day of the week! You know how I am without the coffee. LOL ( ... )

I'll mention the Wii stuff to GK and see what she thinks. (It's definitely out of MY price range!)

She's taking six different meds for cancer and heart-related stuff, two kinds of vitamins, a blood thinner and the neurology patch. Every day. *sighs*

The hotel should be awesome. I'm looking forward to a swim and playing with the Lush stuff after the concert. Fun, fun, fun!

That's the funny thing about clothes. Sometimes the stuff that looks OH SO CUTE on the hanger just doesn't work when you put it on, and some of the stuff that looks boooring on the hangers turns out to be adorable when you actually try it on. I was looking at an argyle sweater the other day at Goodwill, and I thought it would be great, but I tried it on and it ended up being assymetric and DID NOT WORK. One thing I have learned: MUST TRY ON.

Trying on is a good thing for clothes. I didn't think that paisley would look good on me. I am wrong. It's very cute when it's very thin thing with a mini tank under it. (I am getting used to my body slowly.)
Speaking of articals that I have read, last night, before bed, I read that women with 10-20 "extra" pounds out live thier skinnier friends by 6 years. Hmmmm..... I should be good for a few extra years then! LOL! I can't wait to start going to the Health Plex with my mom. *insert sigh here* I love the fact that I will be able to go swimming no matter what the weather is like outside. And use a jacuzzi, and a sauna, and a walking track, and and and..:)

Lush stuff is going to be fun. I have to look up on-line to find out about the other little thingies that are in the bag. I forgot when to use them and in what order. (Sigh) I thought that I had a paper saying who what when and stuff.. but I dont.
