This is a very nice Christmas

At the moment, I'm basking in a glow of well-being. Life is good. I got a super AU story as my yuletide big gift, my recipient had squeeful things to say about my gift to her (Later!), I got a delightful treat story, and there was good feedback on my last-minute submission, too. (Last minute is right---I kept track, there were only NINE stories ( Read more... )

We visited the in-laws side of the family today, which is a lot of fun -- I've always gotten along better with them than my blood relatives, and since we didn't have to be there until 1 p.m., we were able to sleep to a decent hour.

I got several very nice gifts (fancy coffee, books, a t-shirt, a very generous Barnes & Noble gift card), but my favorite came from my sweet son, who gave me a red bandanna print umbrella and a sampler pack of Burt's Bees hand creams, which he knows I love. Since he'd wrapped the umbrella in a liquor gift bag, I didn't know what to expect. I told him it was a relief to learn that no one had sold him booze at his age! :)

Creative packaging, I like it! Everyone can use good umbrella---even ifthey live in a desert, they could still use it as a parasol---mine is the traditional non-folding kind with a curved handle, and I got it from Lambie Pie...gawd, it must be 10-12 years ago. Stained glass-style print of dragonflies in green and blue...I have no idea where she got it, but it remains one of my all-time favorite Christmas presents ever.

I'm looking forward to the arrival of my GCs, which include Barnes and Noble, Olive Garden and Fashion Bug. Meanwhile, I'm going to be good and hang on to my cash because property taxes are right around the corner....

Yes, she does know you...
The 'sewing kit' came as prompt from the postal worker when we both were trying to come up with a title to cover all those little items. And that way the inspection would be not too harsh for the poor package we both figured as well.
So I take you liked it. And is the calendar of that theme you thought it might be?

What a memory you have! No, it wasn't. I ended up returning it to the store---I couldn't imagine spending a year reading those lame jokes. Hey, she doesn't have to know.

Does she read this? Because then she knows already...

No, she doesn't. (If she did, I would probably have already gotten an earful about referring to her offspring as Thing One and Thing Two.)
