The Fat Lady Sings

The long-running soap opera that has been my job is ended; I was called into the boss's office shortly after noon today and told that I was being let go. Speculating on who, exactly, was behind the campaign of complaints serves no purpose. It's over, period ( Read more... )

Oh, Ree, I'm sorry to hear this. I left my own job early as a result, not only of bad management on my boss's part, but also lies that she was being told about me. Lies she chose to believe instead of even talking to me about them. I am sorry. But, hey, I've been unemployed for four weeks as of today, and it's not so bad. My friends and family still like me, my skills, experience and knowledge haven't gone away. I can still write (though I haven't felt like it) and I still enjoy my fandoms, my books and my TV shows. At first there's this uncertain feeling like you might lose all the things that matter, but that doesn't really happen. Have a resume ready, by all means, but try not to panic. A new job will find you.

Thanks, hon! I'm not so much panicking--if it had happened *before* I got my property taxes paid for the year it would be a different story--but I'm trying to wrap my brain around it. In August, I would have been there for 5 years, which would've set a record for me. Most of it was a nice predictable routine, being able to count on X amount of money at Y intervals...all the events and people and places that were a regular part of my life...and now, abruptly, I'm on the outside ( ... )

Thanks. I'm looking forward to a less stressful environment--as well as a bit of a breather. The last time I had more than a long weekend off was during a bout of pneumonia I had around this time last year. Before that, back spasms I had about four years ago.

The fine print... )

Thanks! The mojo from my friends seems to be working well so far--I've already gotten one strong lead to pursue tomorrow and we'll see what happens. I'm going to call them first thing and see if I can get in for an interview if I can--the fact that one of my references is a good customer of theirs may help!

Thanks. I was pretty well burned out on it, but I'm one of those people who refuses to just quit--although I was tempted. This way, at least I qualify for unemployment benefits and have time to look for a job that's a better fit.
