I think Barry's the one one who could possibly work, or they could do what JLU did, which was give Wally Barry's origin. And yeah, nerds would be mad, but I think Wally is the personality that lends himself to the kind of movie The Flash should be, which is to say that he could be very easily made into Peter Parker (the snarky one in the comics, not Tobey "Emofest" Maguire).
But I really like the idea of Barry wearing a suit with enormous 70's lapels, so I am completely behind your thesis. Who would you cast? For some reason, I'm imagining this guy.

I'd also love a Justice Society movie set during WWII, but with Marvel making a Captain America movie it might seem too much like a rip off. I just want lots of period superhero movies with hilarious Golden and Silver age pseudo-science. I don't think that's too much to ask.
