Thoughts on a Flash movie.

So I've been thinking about superhero movies and what does and doesn't work in them and the fact that my favorite hero, the Flash, is pretty fucked when it comes to thinking up a plot that would work for a cinema audience. Most successful comic book films require the audience to have some knowledge of the subject matter before hand. Superman leaps ( Read more... )

Can you just send this to DC? PLEEEEEEZE?????? You are a genius.

I think Barry's the one one who could possibly work, or they could do what JLU did, which was give Wally Barry's origin. And yeah, nerds would be mad, but I think Wally is the personality that lends himself to the kind of movie The Flash should be, which is to say that he could be very easily made into Peter Parker (the snarky one in the comics, not Tobey "Emofest" Maguire).

But I really like the idea of Barry wearing a suit with enormous 70's lapels, so I am completely behind your thesis. Who would you cast? For some reason, I'm imagining this guy.

My favorite part of this is thinking about all the little cameos to slip in. Obviously Barry has to bust a bunch of young bank robbers, one of whom is Len Snart so he can come back as Captain Cold in the sequel. But you could have newspaper ads about a skating exposition with Golden Glider in it or a gossip headline about the Rathaways disowning their son. Barry can collect pulp novels about Max Mercury or Jonah Hex other early heroes ( ... )

Adventure! Corruption! Romance!

I can see the 50's pulp/grindhouse style poster right! now! THE FLASH: CAN YOU DIG IT?

Has there ever been a challenge to make superhero posters in grindhouse style? If not that is clearly a grave error. I want a Nick Fury as James Bond one. And Martian Manhunter in film noir style.

That picture is amazing and has made a shitty day much better.

And a Flash movie set in the 80's would be pretty hardcore, not gonna lie.

If there was a Law and Order: Superhuman Crimes Unit I would watch every second. CKR could be a recurring evil rapist character. Like Dr. Light!

I'd also love a Justice Society movie set during WWII, but with Marvel making a Captain America movie it might seem too much like a rip off. I just want lots of period superhero movies with hilarious Golden and Silver age pseudo-science. I don't think that's too much to ask.

I can't decide if I want this or a Green Lantern/Green Arrow buddy comedy more. Who am I kidding, no way is DC going to give me a decent version of either.

No. They truly hate all that is wonderful sometimes.

I just want gay subtext and learning about the real America and explosions. I don't think that's too much to ask.

I hope this gets made. Watchmen aside looking at a super hero in an earlier time frame removes things like cell phone cameras and facial recognition programs.

There are so many issues about superheros in a current real world setting that the movies are just ignoring. I want a good old fashion Nazi-punching romp where you don't have to worry about why no one has run Superman's face through the FBI database to find out his real identity or something.
