The Long Weekend

I was dreading the 4th of July weekend. So many things are closed, most notably Calvin's day care, YMCA daycare, and baby swim class. And it is so freaking hot you can't go outside for much of the day. Which leaves me with three days to fill and not a lot to fill them with ( Read more... )

Unless you are planning on a #2, you are now officially over the "hump." It only gets easier from here. Well, until the teenage years.

Not to detract from the "you're in the home stretch!" sentiments, but we're currently in the potty-training phase. I know that some kids just wake up one day and say "No more diapers, please, Mom." But I think that this may go down in our book as one of the crappier (pun totally intended!) times in our family's life.

Although I have to admit that the consequences of inattention are less--a mess on the floor as opposed to falling 5 feet off the top of the bookcase....how the HELL do they get up there on such little legs?????

Aren't you glad you don't cook over an open fire and wash in a creek? It's amazing any of them grow up as it is.

YES. I don't know how people did it in the old days. Lower cleanliness standards, lower childcare standards, and more extended family around, I think.
