Today we learned how to thread a loom. It took all day for a roomful of us to get the knack. I have the impression this part of the job is not particularly popular among weavers. It takes a long time. The weaving itself is almost an afterthought.

For me it is like foreplay, meditative, compassionate and tactile. I don't mind delayed gratification. ( Read more... )

(snerk) My mother in law's into weaving in a big way, and putting the warp on the loom is definitely one of those tedious tasks that NO ONE but NO ONE enjoys. Sort of like some people don't like weaving in ends or even sewing together knitting projects. (whistles innocently and shoves the pile of sweater pieces back under the sofa)

Can't say I like weaving in ends, but I've getting better at learning ways to avoid it.
