This morning I started reading through this journal from the beginning, seeking material for a particular project, tagging as I went. It's startling how I've changed since April 2003, and how not. O Evocative Eramosa!

I remember the first time I visited the Mississippi River at night. Usually I see it in the daytime, and that from a moving car zipping over one of the bridges, so there was a subtle strangeness in standing still while the dark water swirled past, indifferent to day or night.

By comparison, the Eramosa River is only a trickle. I have never seen the Mississippi....

Sunday afternoon, while it was still light, I stood for ten minutes looking down on the weir in the Speed River just above Goldie Mill ... so different from seeing the same flow in autumn.
