I was taking a pee break when it hit me: in order to write Pilgrim's Cross I ought to read the Bible again. Especially since Jesus is a conceptual character in the novel. Yes, all I can do is laugh. I imagine God would find it funny, too.

Ironically, I must try to believe in God again for a while in order to write this novel. It has nothing to do with atheism. And Jesus plays a benevolent role in the mind of my protagonist.

Maybe I'll go to church.

You know, I wonder if it's not best anyway that you not use 'your' resource materials. I don't know. Somethings are odd that way. Maybe you remember now because the books are gone?

That may be the truth.

Strangely enough, I think this idea has galvanized the work. I had to go to the Green Room to meet some friends this evening, so I headed down an hour early to write, and ideas started filling the page. I found a door into the fictional world, and it's exciting.

The harm was done long ago; I survived and recovered. The worst thing that's likely to happen is that I will become angry, which may or may not be conducive to the writing.
