remember the crafty house in east van?

Feb 06, 2006 14:07

yes, it's that time again. we are looking for a roomie for March 1.

*edited to include more photos, WHOA*

the house:
- old, somewhat messy house near the pne (3300 block of east georgia)
- the room is $300/month plus utilities ($22/month for cable & internet, and $10 - $50 for hydro depending on the time of year, etc)
- we have no landline (it's easier for everyone to just have a cell phone)
- there is a washer but no dryer. you can hang stuff outside on the porch to dry or you can haul everything to a laundromat (there are a few that are sort of near by)
- street parking available
- internet and cable available right in the room
- we are small pet friendly (sorry no dogs, they scare the bunny).
- the room available is upstairs. it has slanted ceilings and some cupboard/cabinet things along one wall. there are no closets. the room has been painted red but you are welcome to paint it whatever colour you want.

the neighbourhood:
- 20 minutes to downtown via the 135 (uh, good for sfu kids too). you can also take the 10. the stop for the 27 is also nearby, that will get you to the skytrain in 5 minutes (rupert) or you can go all the way to joyce in like 20-25 minutes.
- playland is really close if you like rollercoasters and stuff
- some restaurants and junk are kinda close. there are some little grocery places along hastings closer to nanaimo, or you can go to safeway which is more on the burnaby side of things (bus adventure though). superstore is right by the rupert skytrain, too.
- it's pretty safe around here. there are two suites downstairs and we never have problems with the people down there.

you will be sharing a living space with:

Alice
- works at a coffee place
- goes to emily carr (oh so arty)
- likes music and going to shows (but isn't a crazy stuck up indie hipster so don't worry)
- laughs really loud

Jen
- works at a dry cleaning place in kits
- likes comics and music and girls
- is really sweet and awesome and nice
- vegetarian but not preachy

Tamara
- hey that's me
- likes random adventures and sushi and HOCKEY (I ♥ the CANUCKS)
- oh yeah music and junk is cool too
- works for the GOVERNMENT (oh no!)

Bert
- big beige/orange-ish kitty
- likes to go for walks around the neighbourhood (he'll follow you around, no leash needed!)
- likes to knock stuff over
- doesn't like tummy rubs but loves having his face scratched

Jarkko
- slightly overweight brown mini-rex bunny
- likes salad
- likes to poop
- skips around sometimes when you laugh at him

we're all in our early 20's (24 is still early, right? RIGHT?!?), pretty easy going, all that kind of junk

we are looking for:

- probably a girl. not that we don't like boys, it's just we get a lot of old men asking about the house whenever we advertise and i'm pretty sure they're like "whoa three chicks, sweet". sorry, guys, it's not that kind of house. so we might make exceptions if you are a super awesome guy but yeah.
- someone who is ok with cleaning up after themselves. i am not the mom.
- not too much drug use. we already had adventures with people od'ing in the kitchen and i'd rather not go that way again.
- basically don't be annoying and we'll be ok with it.

anyways, our house is getting way less crafty now that nicole is moving out, so if you are crafty and want to keep it going, that's rad too. if this place sounds interesting and you'd like more info (although i'm sure i blabbed enough already) or want to set up a time to come see the place, then send me an email (tamtar@gmail.com) or give me a call (604)788-5153. i can send pictures if you'd want to see it before so you don't waste time coming out here to see that we are messy and you hate us.

here are some pictures:

kitchen:

more cluttered kitchen of doom (i told you we are messy):

(some of this stuff will be going when the one girl moves out, so don't be too scared. we are also attempting to do SPRING CLEANING to get rid of all our crap. the walls will be painted properly soon again, too, so don't worry about that.)

this is the bathroom. eh, it's a bathroom, i dunno.

livingroom. again, most of the junk/clutter is leaving.

and what you have all been waiting for, the room in question. yeah, all that stuff will be gone. it comes unfurnished.

yes that is a chalkboard on the door, it's just that paint stuff. you can paint over it if you want.

the little cupboards i was talking about:

another view:

anyways it's a pretty big room. i live in the one across the hall from it, which is the same size and i crammed a double bed, a tv stand, a desk, two bookshelves, a small table, one big dresser and one small dresser AND a rabbit cage in there. phew.
